Plastic & Polythene
Hannay
currently collect and recycle many different types of polymer waste.
In many cases these materials were previously destined to landfill at
substantial cost. It is important for you to know what kind of plastics
you can recycle and we can assist . Our trained and experienced
technical sales staff help companies identify and organise the separation
of plastics from their waste stream and provide on site collections,
balers and trailers to take care of it. We also help manufacturers
in designing better products to aid recycling at their end of life.
Plastics waste falls into two main categories: Pre-use
and Post-use.
Pre-use plastic waste is likely to be either plastic that has not
met the specification required for its designed use, or production
wastage and/or off-cuts arising during assembly or installation.
Examples of off-specification material might include plastic that
has the wrong colour, wrong hardness, or wrong processing characteristics.
These plastics are often suitable for recycling. We can
supply cages, bulk bags, skips and trailers for collection on a
regular basis.
Post-use plastic waste is often described as post consumer waste and generally
falls into one of five main categories:
-
Plastic bottles
-
Plastic film
-
Rigid plastics, such as crates, pipes and mouldings
-
Plastic foams, such as expanded polystyrene (EPS)
-
Flexible plastics, such as strapping and cable sheathing
We collect and process plastic bottles from Local Authorities'
household recycling schemes and many large offices, institutions,
universities, hospitals and so on.
Other post-consumer waste, like cling-film and polythene, arises from
retailers and distribution companies and this is re-used in a vast range of
products including refuse sacks and construction membranes.
We help companies identify and organise the separation of their polythene waste
from their waste stream and provide on site collections, balers and trailers
for its onward recycling.
Hannay also granulate pellets suitable for extrusion and injection
moulding in a range of colours and qualities; everything from beer
crates to gas pipe is processed in-house. With the most stringent
processing conditions Plasticycler® Polymer
is guaranteed to be of the highest possible quality. For example
during processing, great care is taken to grade the waste and eliminate
impurities such as dust and metal. The plastic is then granulated
to a size ≤ 6mm, the European Standard, ready for recycling.
